KOICA Scholarship Program

About the grant

Full scholarship covering tuition, a monthly living allowance, round-trip airfare, medical insurance, and a settlement allowance in Korea. Exact amounts are published annually in KOICA's program guideline.

Who can apply

The program is specifically directed at citizens of Uzbekistan — KOICA maintains a dedicated country office in Tashkent (uzkap.uz). Candidates must be employees of government agencies, public institutions, or research institutes and receive an official nomination from their government body; the age limit is typically 40, a Bachelor's degree is required, and English or Korean proficiency is needed. Graduates commit to returning to Uzbekistan to continue public-sector work.

How to apply

1. Candidates must first obtain an official nomination from their government agency or institution, then submit the KOICA application form, employment verification letter, passport copy, CV, recommendation letters, and university-specific documents to the KOICA Uzbekistan office or the Korean Embassy in Tashkent.

Useful tips

• Take IELTS or TOEFL in advance — most scholarships require at least 6.5.
• Request recommendation letters at least 2 months early — professors need time.
• In your motivation letter, clearly state your goals and plans after returning to Uzbekistan.
