Frequently asked questions
Are my files sent to a server?
No. Every tool runs entirely in your browser: the file never leaves your device, is never uploaded to our server and is stored nowhere. That is also why work already started keeps going if your connection drops.
Are these tools free?
Yes. Using the tools is free. Downloading a result needs a free account — registration takes a minute and costs nothing.
Do they work on a phone?
Yes, every tool works in a mobile browser. The file-size limit is lower on a phone — that follows from browser memory, since the file is processed on the device itself.
Which files are accepted?
Most tools work on PDFs. The image tools accept JPG and PNG. Each tool page carries a table stating exactly what it accepts and what it returns.
Does the result lose quality?
It depends on the tool. Merging, extracting and reordering pages redraw nothing, so quality is untouched. Compressing and converting to black and white turn the pages into images — and both pages warn about that before you start.
Can you open a password-protected PDF?
Only if you know the password yourself. The tools do not guess passwords and do not break encryption; the document opens with the password you supply.
