What changes
Four letters change; the other twenty-four stay as they are. The alphabet moves from 26 letters plus 3 letter combinations to 28 letters plus one tutuq belgisi.

The “ng” combination
“ng” is dropped from the alphabet as a separate letter but is still written “n” + “g” — the converter leaves it untouched.
“sh” has two readings
In words such as “isʼhoq” and “asʼhob”, “s” and “h” are separate letters. The converter keeps them apart and flags the decision.
Frequently asked questions
Do my existing documents stop being valid?
No. Under the law, documents issued in the current alphabet, the national currency and securities all stay in circulation until the new norms take effect. You do not need to replace a diploma, a passport or a contract.
Which alphabet should I submit academic work in?
For now, whichever your institution or journal editors ask for. The new spelling rules have not been published yet, so most OAK journals and universities still expect the current alphabet. Check before you submit.
Which letters change?
Four: Sh→Ş, Ch→Ç, Oʻ→Ö, Gʻ→Ğ. The other twenty-four change neither their shape nor their reading.
Does “ng” change?
“ng” is dropped from the alphabet as a separate letter combination, but it is still written with “n” and “g” as before: “tong”, “keng”. Nothing changes in writing, so the converter leaves it alone.
Does every “sh” become “ş”?
No. In Arabic loanwords such as “isʼhoq” and “asʼhob”, “s” and “h” are separate letters — they do not become “ş”. The converter recognises these words and flags the decision it made.
How do I type the new letters?
There is no dedicated Uzbek layout for Ş, Ç, Ö and Ğ yet. The most reliable route is to add the Turkish (Q) keyboard — all four letters are on it. Step-by-step instructions for each device are on a separate page.
Is my text sent to a server?
