National Institute for International Education (NIIED), Ministry of Education of Korea
Full funding is provided, including round-trip airfare, a monthly living allowance, settlement support, and medical insurance; exact amounts are set by NIIED's annual call.
Unlike the degree-seeking track, this program offers foreign researchers holding at least a Master's-level qualification a non-degree research stay of 6 months or 1 year. Official information states that citizens of any country in the world may apply to this R&D/research track, meaning Uzbekistan citizens are fully eligible; the requirement is to secure a formal invitation from a NIIED-recognized Korean university and to hold non-Korean citizenship.
Applicants must first secure a host/invitation from a NIIED-recognized Korean university, prepare a research plan or proposal, and then submit materials via the Study in Korea portal or the relevant Korean embassy within that year's call window.
Periodic
Run through seasonal annual calls; exact dates vary from year to year and there is no fixed permanent deadline. Applicants should monitor the current call via NIIED and the Study in Korea portal.
TWAS + UNESCO
TWAS covers travel costs to the host centre of excellence and provides a monthly allowance of USD 300 for local living expenses; the host centre covers accommodation, meals and research infrastructure. Associateship status is granted for a 3-year term, during which the associate may visit the centre twice (2-3 months each visit); the term may be renewed for a further 3-year period if funds permit.
OeAD — Austria's Agency for Education and Internationalisation
The grant provides a stipend of EUR 1,300 per month during the research stay in Austria, plus assistance with accommodation and health insurance. Grant duration ranges from 1 to 9 months and cannot be extended.
European Commission
The total budget of a consortium project can range from several hundred thousand to several million euros. Under the Widening Participation instruments (Teaming, Twinning, ERA Chairs), a partner organisation may receive over €100,000; the exact amount depends on the terms of the specific call.
