About the grant
Provides JPY 100,000/month for undergraduate students and JPY 140,000/month for master's and doctoral students; an additional airfare reimbursement of up to JPY 250,000 (economy class) is provided after arrival in Japan.
Who can apply
Citizens of any non-Japanese nationality (including dual nationals) may apply — there is no restriction for Uzbekistan citizens. Candidates must independently secure admission to a Japanese institution (undergraduate 3rd-4th year, master's, or doctoral program), hold at least JLPT N4 level Japanese, arrive in Japan before the program starts, and must not have resided in Japan for more than 31 days in total previously.
How to apply
First secure independent admission confirmation from a Japanese institution, then complete the application form through the overseas-candidates section of the official rotary-yoneyama.or.jp website and submit it with a recommendation letter from your supervisor/professor.

Applications from overseas candidates are accepted annually from October 1–31 (the 2026-intake window closed October 31, 2025). The next cycle opens October 2026.
Useful tips
- Take IELTS or TOEFL in advance — most scholarships require at least 6.5.
- Request recommendation letters at least 2 months early — professors need time.
- In your motivation letter, clearly state your goals and plans after returning to Uzbekistan.
