When does this apply?

For a design in which one continuous measurement on one group is compared against a known value — a norm, a standard, or a previously published figure; that value is set in the “Comparison value” option. The output is t, the degrees of freedom, p, and Hedges g with a 95% confidence interval. If two measurements on one group are being compared, the paired-samples t-test applies; for two separate groups, the independent-samples t-test.
